- After Gary Chapman's idea
We often love the way we would like to be loved, and then wonder why the person close to us doesn't notice. The idea of five love languages belongs to the relationship counsellor Gary Chapman: words, time, gifts, acts of care and touch. Some people feel loved when they hear “I'm proud of you”, others when the dishes are already done. Knowing your language, and the language of the person close to you, means you stop waiting for love on the wrong frequency.
Five love languages
This questionnaire is based on Gary Chapman's book “The Five Love Languages” (1992) and is not the author's official test. Research on love languages is mixed: studies confirm that people express and notice love in different ways, but not that matching languages make a couple happier. Take the result as a reason to talk, not as a rule.
